Updates from Debra 10/9/2009 - Update Hello everyone. Just wanted to give you an update on where I am in my journey to becoming cancer free!
Since the fundraiser event in August I have had to take a number of test to prepare for my series of chemotherapy, then radiation, then hormone therapy. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in May 2009. Since that time we have learned that I was in a Stage 2b, Estrogen and Progesterone positive. The cancer was 4.8 centimeters. This means that they have to be aggressive in the treatment process to hopefully eliminate any cancerous cells that may be too small to detect and that may have drifted from the breast area. So, now comes the real challenging part. I will receive chemo for about 18 weeks. I am told that the chemo I receive is very strong and associated with many side effects. But here's what I know to be true. I know I will probably experience fatigue, nausea, feeling tired or weak, just to name a few, but I also know I will have good days and good times. I believe that thought alone will help me fight thru this. Your prayers keep me going. Your prayers keep me strong. Your prayers will see me through this all the way. So keep on prayin', cause I need you. |

A Mother's Love A Sisters HeartA mother's love is the most unique love one will ever experience. I know this for two reasons. One is because I am a mother who loves her children dearly and will do anything for them. Secondly, because I am loved so very much by my mother I am experiencing this unique love each and everyday. In fact I am convinced that a mother's love is a complete expression of God's love for his children. My Mother has been by my side every step of the way. She protects me, she stands up for me when I couldn't stand up for myself, she advises me and nurtures me. God presents his love to me everyday and that love is my MOM. (Velma Harris) A Sisters HeartWhen my sister, brother and I were growing up, my Mom insisted that I take my sister with me where ever I went. Of course this did not sit well with me because I claimed she would ruin everything as I hung out with my friends. It didn't matter to my Mom so she came along. After awhile I got used to it. So much so that to this day we hang out regularly and we talk on the phone everyday just to say hi. My sister's name is Robin and she has been my best friend for as long as I can remember. I can't truly imagine what this entire process is doing to her. Inspite of what she must be going through she has been a real trooper for me. She has only let me see the positive side of her nature. She has laughed with me and listened to my whining. Robin is always there for me and I know this and I depend on this and I welcome it. She has a beautiful heart. Not only for me and our relationship but everyone. Robin, you are my heart. THANK YOU GOD for what you have given me. Sincerely, Debra |
